Starting up Wyoming FCA
In the beginning, several volunteers had already begun faithfully serving and leading huddles on their own in Wyoming. Because of their investment, much of the groundwork had been laid for the first staff, Jim Hamilton with his hiring and by the time Wyoming FCA became officially organized in 1989.
Still, there was still more room for development. Jim saw the potential FCA had to become a sustainable ministry to coaches and athletes in Wyoming. With the help of his staff, Jim made lasting connections with donors willing to invest in FCA's vision and volunteers ready to get involved with FCA's mission.
(He even braved many blizzards and an encounter with his car and a cow to keep sharing FCA's vision)
One of those volunteers, we are incredibly thankful for is Jim Horn.
Here is an excerpt from his FCA story shared in our Recent State Huddle Connection Newsletter:
I became involved in FCA to a limited extent in high school. One of my football coaches was the huddle leader and I went to FCA mostly because there was food. I look back and am glad I went because I knew about FCA.... [years later] I came to Casper to teach and coach in 1982. Still was not close to God. [Then], My wife Lynne and I made a decision to accept Jesus in 1986.
If I recall the right year, it was the fall of 1989 when a person that I had not met came to our house. Turns out this person was Wyoming State Director of FCA, Jim Hamilton Jim asked me if I was interested in starting a FCA huddle at Kelly Walsh High school. I accepted that invitation from God through Jim and made it happen.
That was a step of faith for me and I have been blessed to have taken it.

Today in Western Wyoming
Recently returning to Green River Basin, with his wife and his son's family, after a stint in Missouri and Texas. It feels like a full circle for Jim. And, it certainly feels like coming home.
Here is an excerpt from a local press release, written by Jim's daughter and published in the Sublette Magazine in 2016:
.… In Sublette county and surrounding regions, FCA's impact has exponentially grown thank to the outstanding board of directors from the communities, exceptional leadership among Sublette athletes and coancs and the arrival of Area Director Jim Hamilton and his wife Tina.
