What a game to top off an awsome Hoops Day!
Prior to the game, students enjoyed a worship band and heard from two former Wyoming Cowgirl athletes.
After making a profession of faith in her youth, her father asked her, "so how are you different now?" Jules was bothered by this question, yet she went on to live the next several years without displaying any "difference" from the lifestyle and attitude of the rest of the world. It was not until her senior year of college, after a successful soccer career that Jules recognized that no person, accomplishment, party or other earthly thing could fill the void in her life that God had intentionally placed there to lead her back to Him. She fully surrendered to Christ and dove into a walk with him feet first. She is now involved in the UW FCA leadership team and looks for any opportunity to share her faith.
Former volleyball player Emily Rochelle also shared how God had interrupted her lifestyle and life plans to set her feet on His path. She challenged students from a book she is reading called Girls Gone Wise in a World Gone Wild encouraging them to pursue Godly wisdom in a culture that in many ways has gone wild. Emily is also very involved in ministry at UW, leading a Bible Study, preparing for her second mission trip through UW FCA, and serving on the UW FCA leadership team.
The game provided the elation of a temporary victory; however, the pregame festivities held at First Christian Church reminded us that the real victory is in Jesus, and the salvation from sin that His life and sacrifice on the cross provides. That's a victory that will last forever!

"I happened to talk with a former youth pastor, now a present Missionary, who brought a group of kids to one of the FCA Gameday events years ago. He shared about how one young man was growing distant with their church/youth group but they invited him to come to Laramie for a game and the FCA event. The boy came with their youth group with interest in attending a UW game, and ended up having a great time with the group and was ministered to that day by the speaker. From that time on, he re-connected with the youth group. The pastor shared with me that God used the Gameday event as a turning point in the boy’s life, and now that boy is currently working as a campus ministry leader in college. Praise God!"--Aaron Frude, SE WY /UW FCA Rep.

Game Day 2012

Nebraska fans cheering for Wyoming? Believe it or not it did happen this football season, although it was a few weeks after the Cowboys and Cornhuskers faced off, at the Wyoming FCA Game Day event. A crew from Nebraska joined students from around the cowboy state (Torrington, Cheyenne, Burns, Laramie, Casper, Rock River and Pavillion) to watch Wyoming beat UNLV 41 to 14 on a beautiful October afternoon. The game was not the only event with a positive outcome; FCA Game Day was a tremendous blessing for all who were able to attend as well. With the best attendance we have had in several years, 199 people gathered at First Christian Church before the game to hear Cheyenne FCA staff and former Wyoming football quarterback Karsten Sween (top, far left) lay out the gospel. Karsten used FCA's gospel tract, More Than Winning, as a basis for his message, which focused on why and how to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He also challenged his audience to find a "Jesus coach," or someone who can help them grow in their walk with Christ. Following Wyoming's win over the Rebels, Wyoming football players Luke Anderson and Luke Ruff shared how God had personally impacted their lives. What a powerful wrap up to an awesome day!

Huddle Spotlight: Kaycee WY

Huddle Spotlight: Kaycee WY

What's going on in Kaycee Wyoming? FCA is what's going on. Every Thursday during their lunch break, 8-12 students walk to a local business office for lunch, which is provided by various adults in the community. The students eat, fellowship and spend time in Bible study and discussion before heading back to school. The Kaycee High School's FCA huddle coach is Laura Pierson and football coach Dustin Sipe also helps support the group. This past summer, 13 students from Kaycee attended the Northern Black Hills Sports Camp. Praise God for a big ministry opportunity in this small community!
