2017 Game Day

No one who braved the last quarter of the Wyoming football game against Texas State was disappointed as they cheered the Pokes on to a victory over the Wildcats.  Those who stuck out the freezing rain waiting to hear testimonies from Wyoming's Nick Smith and Kellen Overstreet got an added bonus, as both players shared inspiring stories of what God had done in their lives. This was a blessed wrap up to an already great Game Day event.  Kicking off at First Christian Church, only a couple blocks from the stadium, over 200 participants from around the state ate pizza, enjoyed music with a local church worship band, and heard from all-time leading tackler for the Wyoming Cowboys and former NFL player Galand Thaxton.  Thaxton opened the Bible to help his listeners understand the holiness of God from the story of Moses in Exodus, and his encounter with God. He then explained the problem of sin, which causes death and separation from God.  The Good News, Thaxton shared, is the opportunity to have restored fellowship with God through the sacrifice for sin Jesus Christ provided when He died on the cross. This not only gives us access to God, but the opportunity to shine God's light and holiness to the world around us and provide others with the same gift of life and hope that we have received.  What a great reminder for some and invitation for others, to receive this free gift and walk in freedom and the fullness of life God offers!
